Cooperative Board and Governance Counsel
Cooperative Board and Governance Counsel gives your board clear legal answers before the meeting, for one flat monthly fee. Many directors are farmers first. We help them know what the law expects.
Who it is for
Agricultural co-ops, ag associations, and nonprofits in Nebraska and Minnesota.
What it helps with
- Bylaws and policy reviews
- Director duties and conflicts of interest
- Meeting minutes and resolutions
- Member questions and consensual member disputes
- Contracts the board must approve
How it works
- Flat monthly fee. You know the cost each month. We set it after a call about your needs.
- Month to month. No long contract.
- A set amount of help. Each level includes a defined amount of work. You can move up or down.
- Big projects quoted separately. A land purchase, a merger, or a full estate plan gets its own flat-fee quote.
- Summer timing. Service is lighter in July and August. You can choose to pause during those months.
What it does not cover
We do not handle lawsuits or contested court cases. If a matter turns into a lawsuit, we help you find trial counsel. See what we don’t do.
Common questions
We already have a law firm. We can give a second set of eyes on your bylaws and minutes.
Can I cancel? Yes. It is month to month. Work already started must be finished or handed off the right way.
Book a 30-minute call to see which level fits. Not sure you need ongoing help? Ask about a one-time Annual Legal Checkup.
