What “fractional general counsel” means

A general counsel is a company’s go-to lawyer. “Fractional” means you share that lawyer instead of hiring one full time. You get a lawyer who knows your operation and answers when you call. You pay a flat monthly fee instead of a bill for every call.

Three programs

Farm Legal Partnership (for farms and ranches)
For family operations that want a lawyer who already knows the land, the leases, and the family. Good for cash rent and custom farming agreements, land questions, family business agreements, and keeping estate and succession plans current.

Agribusiness Outside Counsel (for ag businesses)
For ag retailers, aerial applicators, custom operators, seed dealers, and other ag businesses. Good for customer contracts, employee and contractor agreements, policies, vendor deals, and owner agreements.

Cooperative Board & Governance Counsel (for co-ops and associations)
For co-op boards, ag associations, and nonprofits. Good for bylaws, board duties, member questions, meeting minutes and resolutions, and contracts.

How it works

  • Flat monthly fee. You know the cost each month. We quote it after a call about your needs.
  • Month to month. No long contract.
  • Set the level that fits. Each program has a set amount of help included. You can move up or down as your needs change.
  • Big projects are quoted separately. A land purchase, a merger, or a full estate plan gets its own flat-fee quote.
  • Harvest and summer timing. Service is lighter in July and August. You can choose to pause during those months.

Why it works for farms and ag businesses

Most legal problems start small. A handshake lease. A contract nobody read. An employee question. When calling your lawyer doesn’t cost you every time, you call early. Early calls are cheaper than fixing problems later.

What it doesn’t cover

We don’t handle lawsuits or contested court cases. If something turns into a lawsuit, we help you find trial counsel and get them up to speed.

Common questions

How much does it cost?

It’s a flat monthly fee based on the program and the level of help you need. We’ll give you the number after a short call.

Can I cancel?

Yes. It’s month to month. Any work already started still has to be finished or handed off the right way.

Do you work with businesses that aren’t farms?

Yes, when the work fits our experience and licenses. Agriculture is our main focus, but not our only one.

Is this available in Minnesota?

Yes. Kole is licensed in Nebraska and Minnesota.
