Kole Pederson

Founder

Pass It DownMidwest Ag Law
00:00 / 02:59

At Midwest Ag Law, our roots in agriculture run deep. Our founder, Kole Pederson, grew up on a family crop farm where work wasn’t just a job — it was a way of life. Being homeschooled, Kole began his usual days at 5:00 a.m., balancing school with full-time work by the time he was 12. He continued this path of dedication, earning degrees in Agronomy, Ag Business, Ag Systems Management, and Aviation from the University of Minnesota Crookston, even teaching upper-division precision agriculture courses after graduation.

Kole’s commitment to agriculture didn’t end there. In 2014, he began working as an aerial applicator, logging hundreds of hours in the air and supporting the industry he had grown up in. However, in 2018 Kole experienced an engine failure that led to a serious crash and months in medical institutions. After being told he might never fly again, Kole channeled his love for agriculture into a new path: agricultural law.

Kole enrolled at Drake University Law School, renowned for its agricultural law program, and shortly after graduation he accepted a position at the Nebraska Farm Bureau as Director of Environmental and Regulatory Affairs. During his time as Director, Kole saw farmers frustrated by the very same challenges he had seen frustrate his dad since childhood: legal services that didn’t fit the reality of farm life.

He noticed three big problems:

  1. Farmers didn't have time. They are busy feeding the world, and taking half a day to visit a lawyer’s office doesn’t fit the demands of farm life..

  2. Legal fees were unpredictable. The billable hour created more stress than solutions.

  3. Most lawyers didn’t speak the language of agriculture. Farmers need someone who has lived it.

Kole built Midwest Ag Law to solve those problems.

We offer flat fees and transparent pricingno hourly billing, no surprises. We meet clients on their terms — whether it’s in the shop, the barn, or over a quick video chat. And because we’ve walked the rows, flown the fields, and fixed equipment in the mud, we don’t just serve farmers — we are farmers. Our transparent approach ensures our clients can confidently seek legal guidance, knowing exactly what to expect as we work together to build their legacies and secure their futures.

Through miraculous healing, Kole returned to the skies and now splits his time between working as an aerial applicator for R & M Flying Service and representing farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses across Nebraska and Minnesota. With over 20 years of firsthand experience, Kole brings a depth of understanding that sets Midwest Ag Law apart as a trusted advocate for those working in agriculture.

At Midwest Ag Law, we’re more than a law firm — we’re a partner who understands your world. Our mission is to help you protect what you’ve built, plan for the future, and keep your legacy growing strong.
